Johns Hopkins Breast Center Wins Two Awards in 1998 National Health Information Awards Program

The Johns Hopkins Breast Center was selected as a winner in the fifth annual National Health Information Awards. The program recognizes the nation's best in consumer health information programs and materials.

The document, "Breast Cancer-- Making the Right Chocies for You", written by Lillie Shockney, Education and Outreach Director of the Breast Center, received a Silver Award for "best consumer decision making information." This winning entry was among the 1,100 entries judged by a national panel of health information experts.

The Johns Hopkins Breast Center Website was the recipient of the Bronze Award for its excellence in "Patient Education Information." It, too, was selected from hundreds of applications received and reviewed by the expert panel.

The Awards program is coordinated by the Health Information Resource Center, a national private sector clearinghouse for consumer health information programs and materials. The Center, which houses a large collection of such public and private sector materials, promotes the distribution of accurate, timely consumer health information materials to professionals and managers in the field.
