2nd Annual Bra Run, Emmaus, PA

Leather & Lace Motor Cycle Club held a Bra Run as a fund raiser for the Johns Hopkins Breast Center. The event was held on April 27, 2002 in Emmaus, PA. This unique breast cancer awareness event was created under the leadership of L & L's National Road Captain, Terry Haas, known by many as "Butterkup!" Even their National President and Founder traveled up from Florida to attend this year. This was the second year for this event and they raised $5000 to support the Patient Education and Survivorship Program. All the participants brought used bras with them, which helped to inspire sponsors to donate money for our organization. (Johns Hopkins brought 801 bras!)

The sponsors for this event were: UNAMI Fish & Game Association in Emmaus, PA (which is also where the event was held); KospiahExcavating in Allentown, PA; Asher's Chocolates in Souderton, PA; Lee's Custom Carpentery in Allentown, PA; CC3 Enterprises in Ivland, PA; and of course Leather & Lace Motorcycle Club in Lehigh Valley, Pa! (Thanks everyone!!)

Lillie Shockney, our Director of Education and Outreach from the Johns Hopkins Breast Center, along with Judy Matthews from the Johns Hopkins Breast Cancer Survivor Volunteer team, made the 5 hour trek up to join in the festivities of the day! They wanted to "look the part" too, so Lillie's mom made them "pleather" black vests, and they wore jeans, had rub on tattoos of skull and cross bones along with black widow spiders and sported a pink awareness ribbon tattoos on their faces made of pink rhinestones! 292 bikes registered and participated in this year's event which included a 75 mile motorcycle ride, a random chance poker draw, food and music with 5 different bands contributing their time throughout the day and night! Next year's event is already set for April 26, 2003!! It was wonderful to see so many people support this cause (and even more wonderful to see so many people wearing pink ribbons on their black leather jackets and vests, committed to supporting us in our fight again breast cancer....

Click below to check out the photos!! Thanks again L &L (and special thanks to Butterkup for a job well done!)
