October 20, 2002: American Cancer Society's 1st Annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
October 20, 2002: American Cancer Society's 1st Annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. This event was held in downtown Baltimore with the starting point being Inner Harbor East, near the Marriott Waterfront Hotel. 2500 participants joined this effort for the purpose of raising money to support breast cancer initiatives funded by the American Cancer Society. $250,000 was raised which is terrific news! Lillie Shockney, our director of education and outreach, served as a "survivor champion" and spoke at the ACS kick off breakfast in September to inspire lots of local businesses to sponsor this event. She also visited local businesses in Baltimore and the metro area for breakfast meetings, luncheons and employee gatherings to educate them about breast cancer as well as promote team involvement for this event.
