Johns Hopkins has its own team of health care professionals who see patients in their home or even in a nearby hotel. The professional nursing staff who make visits to our breast center patients post-operatively have been specially trained to do so. Most patients who are having breast conserving surgery or mastectomy surgery without simultaneous reconstruction receive two visits from a home health care nurse; one occurs the night of their surgery and the other visit the following morning. When medical circumstances warrant it a patient may also have additional visits from home care.
Patients may also be receiving home health care visits during part of the medical treatment is if it felt needed by their doctor. The team of health care professionals who see our patients help ensure continuity of care and provide the necessary bridge needed to help patients continue their recovery and/ or treatments at home.
