Breast Cancer Survivor's Club - A Nurse's Experience
by Lillie Shockney R.N., B.S., M.A.S.
Ogden Publishing

This book is a personal account of my experiences with breast cancer as seen from three perspectives: as a young girl when my mother's best friend was diagnosed with breast cancer; as a nurse who has taken care of women who have undergone mastectomy surgery, and as a patient myself having had a left mastectomy in 1992, a right lumpectomy in 1993 and a second mastectomy in 1994. The book also provides information about the emotions I felt and that of my family as we journeyed together through the experiences of diagnosis and treatment and onto my successful transformation into a breast cancer survivor. The book is filled with humor, a powerful weapon against cancer when combined with good medical care. There is also a chapter written by my parents and a detailed resource chapter for patients, family and friends to use for getting resources, information and advice. It is available through local chain bookstores or can be ordered from Waldenbooks, B. Dalton, Barnes and Noble or by calling the publisher directly Ogden Publishing at 866-803-7096, or order from www.amazon.com on the internet (A large portion of royalities are donated to several breast cancer organizations).
