06/27/2004I had a lumpectomy on June 15 which came back positive IDC 1.8 cm all all margins free. On June 25 I had axiliary node exicess with sentinel node biopsy in which 2 nodes were taken an said to be ok. Having both surgeries so close together has seemed to have drained me. What are real recovery times. ( I am a bartender & waitress and am on my feet most of my 8 hr shifts.)

06/28/2004a combination of emotional stress and anesthesia is taking its toll.. give yourself 2 weeks from your last surgery to feel like yourself again. remember too that chemo is probably on your plate soon too.

Please note: This service is not intended to provide primary medical advice concerning specific medical care or treatment. Ask an Expert is a free service operated by health care professionals at the Johns Hopkins Avon Foundation Breast Center. Due to the volume of questions and their complexity, there are times when medical oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists or oncology nurses are consulted for their input. These individuals volunteer their time for this service and will respond as soon as they are able. Please do not post or send the same question to us in multiple locations or categories.
