| 9/20/2005 | Recently my 39 year old wife was diagnosed with Stage 3 Invasive Ductal Breast Cancer. She has already had the surgery to remove the tumour and 10 Lymphnodes. T2N2aM0. HER Negative. She begins her chemo on September 30th, FEC100 6 cycles. And now the question, with all this on her plate, she still wants to go ahead with a family vacation to Mexico slated for the following week. While her doctor has said she should be fine ,other than some nausea, she really needn't be worried about infection and low white cell counts until the second week following her initial chemo. Is this true? Should I be talking her out of this? | ||

Please note: This service is not intended to provide primary medical advice concerning specific medical care or treatment. Ask an Expert is a free service operated by health care professionals at the Johns Hopkins Avon Foundation Breast Center. Due to the volume of questions and their complexity, there are times when medical oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists or oncology nurses are consulted for their input. These individuals volunteer their time for this service and will respond as soon as they are able. Please do not post or send the same question to us in multiple locations or categories.
