12/27/2005I had an lumpectomy with sentinel lymph node biopsy. The pathology report reads: invasive moderately differentiated duct carcinoma, Elston Grade 2 (architecure 2, nuclear 2, mitosis 2). Angiolymphatic invasion is present however, the lymph nodes were negative for disease. I'm scheduled to speak with a radiation oncologist. Has the cancer spread?

12/27/2005the nodes were apparently cancer free but there still may be some risk fo cancer traveling since there was blood vessels as well as lymphatic vessels in the tumor itself. so find out more about: tumor diameter. hormone receptors. her2neu status.

Ask an Expert is a free service operated by health care professionals at the Johns Hopkins Avon Foundation Breast Center. Due to the volume of questions and their complexity, there are times when medical oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists or oncology nurses are consulted for their input. These individuals volunteer their time for this service and will respond as soon as they are able. Please do not post or send the same question to us in multiple locations or categories.
