|1/3/2006||I had a lumpectomy and the Dr. wants me to have chemo and radiation. (2.1,none in nodes) My friend tells me about a blood test(for her breast cancer) that she had that showed if cancer was in her blood and had a bone scan as well. My Dr. has not suggested either and said their was no blood test to show if cancer was in your body.|

|1/4/2006||there is no blood test to show if breast cancer has spread so don't know what test was done. scans are reserved for someone with lymph node involvement.|
Please note: This service is not intended to provide primary medical advice concerning specific medical care or treatment. Ask an Expert is a free service operated by health care professionals at the Johns Hopkins Avon Foundation Breast Center. Due to the volume of questions and their complexity, there are times when medical oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists or oncology nurses are consulted for their input. These individuals volunteer their time for this service and will respond as soon as they are able. Please do not post or send the same question to us in multiple locations or categories.
