7/5/2006My question concerns hormone receptor status. My path report came back that my cancer was ER positive at 75% and PR positive at 10%. What is the meaning of these numbers? I undertand that I am hormone receptor positive and that, being premenopausal, I will be put on Tamoxifen for five years. Fine. I am considering Chemo. Would the numbers 75% and 10% play in the chemo decision? It seesm to me that while I am hormone receptor positive, I am to a somewhat lesser degree. Does Tamoxifen work better when numbers are in the 90% range? [I am stage 1, 1.7 cm, Node negative, bilateral mastectomy, waiting for oncotype results.]

7/6/2006your are strongly hormone receptor positive. the most significant value is tghe estrogen receptor and it is high. these numbers do impact decisions about chemo. so doing oncotypedx is wise... if you had been negative then they would press chemo decision even more.
