| 2/25/2010 | I celebrated my sixth anniversary of survival this month, but still have times when I am so afraid that the cancer will come back. I am doing everything possible as far as followup care and living a healthy lifestyle. Will there ever be a time when I sit back and celebrate that I made it through the worst of times? Are these feelings normal? Thank you Lilly and God bless you. | ||

| 2/25/2010 | Congrats first on being a 6 year survivor. You may not know this but you have reached a significant milestone! prior to the 2 year mark is the period of time when recurrence risk is its highest. The next milestone to achieve is the 6 year mark, when risk of recurrence now goes way down. It is normal to still periodically worry. your body has taught you to not trust it. as more time goes by though you will hopefully learn to trust it again. be well. relax. celebrate. | ||
Please note: This service is not intended to provide primary medical advice concerning specific medical care or treatment. Ask an Expert is a free service operated by health care professionals at the Johns Hopkins Avon Foundation Breast Center. Due to the volume of questions and their complexity, there are times when medical oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists or oncology nurses are consulted for their input. These individuals volunteer their time for this service and will respond as soon as they are able. Please do not post or send the same question to us in multiple locations or categories.
