| 4/8/2010 | is radiation after lumpectomy a cumulative effect (amount of time)? My radiation oncologist says he is giving a slightly lower dose over 37 days so the breast won't be hurt. He did four days of just the tumor site in the middle of the therapy. | ||

| 4/8/2010 | radiation effects are somewhat accumulative which is why women get fatigue toward the end of their 6 weeks of treatment. i have never heard of the protocol you are on however. request to be shown what standard of care this matches up to as it sounds unusual. L | ||
Please note: This service is not intended to provide primary medical advice concerning specific medical care or treatment. Ask an Expert is a free service operated by health care professionals at the Johns Hopkins Avon Foundation Breast Center. Due to the volume of questions and their complexity, there are times when medical oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists or oncology nurses are consulted for their input. These individuals volunteer their time for this service and will respond as soon as they are able. Please do not post or send the same question to us in multiple locations or categories.
