4/9/2010I had a bilateral mastectomy on 02/09, Stage 1, no lymph node involvement. Am on tamoxifen. I am seriously considering reconstruction with implants. What is safer, saline or silicone? I've heard silicone is quite dangerous if it ruptures, is this true?Thank you for your time!

4/9/2010both are safe. silicone was determined to not be dangerous if the implant ruptures. there are implants that are a combination of silicone and saline too. silicone provides the most natural look and feel among implant options. do also consider getting information about all the reconstruction options. DIEP flap, S-GAP, TUG. there are lots of good choices today. steer clear of TRAM flap that sacrifices your abdominal muscles. L
