| 9/4/2010 | Breast surgical oncologists don't specialize in LCIS per se. first, let's review what LCIS actually is. it is NOT cancer. it is not precancer either. it is a marker for increased risk of developing breast cancer. thousands of women have it however and will never get breast cancer. so its by no means an automatic that once diagnosed with this marker that breast cancer is in your future. that said, if you want an expert in LCIS then you want a medical oncologist who specializes in high risk factors. NCI designated comprenhensive cancer centers have such specialists. | ||
