| 10/20/2010 | I was diagnosed more than 2 years ago at age 47 with breast cancer ER/PR+, HER2-.I'm the only one I know of in my family to have ever gotten breast cancer and I had none of the usual risk factors. I have 3 daughters. None of my doctors has ever suggested the BRCA testing and I really don't feel any need to do it, but I see it recommended if you are diagnosed under the age of 50. Is this a reason enough to do the BRCA testing? | ||

Please note: This service is not intended to provide primary medical advice concerning specific medical care or treatment. Ask an Expert is a free service operated by health care professionals at the Johns Hopkins Avon Foundation Breast Center. Due to the volume of questions and their complexity, there are times when medical oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists or oncology nurses are consulted for their input. These individuals volunteer their time for this service and will respond as soon as they are able. Please do not post or send the same question to us in multiple locations or categories.
