| 1/30/2011 | Screening mammogram showed nodular density superiorly in left breast under 1 cm. Nodular density was not well seen in follow-up diagnostic mammogram with CAD but ultrasound showed spherical hypoechoic structure with some increased through transmission measuring 6.4 X 6.0 X 3.6mm. Could be a cyst, but solid mass could not be ruled out. This was seen in the same area as the density seen in the first mammogram, but may or may not correspond. Six month follow-up is recommended, but since everything is so questionable, wouldn't a biopsy now be wise? | ||

| 1/30/2011 | Apparently the radiologist as well as CAD read it out as probably being benign, therefore 6 month follow up is the standard of care. it's very small too. | ||
Please note: This service is not intended to provide primary medical advice concerning specific medical care or treatment. Ask an Expert is a free service operated by health care professionals at the Johns Hopkins Avon Foundation Breast Center. Due to the volume of questions and their complexity, there are times when medical oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists or oncology nurses are consulted for their input. These individuals volunteer their time for this service and will respond as soon as they are able. Please do not post or send the same question to us in multiple locations or categories.
