| 4/2/2011 | So second breast cancer in 9 years, genetic testing negative, this cancer early stage but ER negative, so no hormonal therapy. Thoughts include radiation therapy for this lumpectomy, assuming first lumpectomy, with radiation tx in opposite breast. Mammogram in 6 months, then another 6 months, then yearly, continue breast self awareness, palpation and visual changes, & yearly clinical exam. Consult with a medical oncologist at a Comprehensive Breast Center, and you could possibly consider bilateral mastectomies with reconstruction IF unable to cope with idea of possible recurrence. Best wishes. | ||
Please note: This service is not intended to provide primary medical advice concerning specific medical care or treatment. Ask an Expert is a free service operated by health care professionals at the Johns Hopkins Avon Foundation Breast Center. Due to the volume of questions and their complexity, there are times when medical oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists or oncology nurses are consulted for their input.
