4/18/201180% of the time women are able to have BCT-- lumpectomy followed by radiation. the actual size of the cancer compared to the breast tissue volume influences this decision. though mass is felt near areola breast imaging studies will be able to determine how close it is and whether the areola can also be spared surgical removal. if you want to come our way, do. just call 443-287-2778. core biopsy is first thing needed to make the diagnosis of course. we are happy to help you.

Please note: This service is not intended to provide primary medical advice concerning specific medical care or treatment. Ask an Expert is a free service operated by health care professionals at the Johns Hopkins Avon Foundation Breast Center. Due to the volume of questions and their complexity, there are times when medical oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists or oncology nurses are consulted for their input. These individuals volunteer their time for this service and will respond as soon as they are able. Please do not post or send the same question to us in multiple locations or categories.
