| 7/10/2011 | Hi Was diagnosed 6 months ago with Stage 1A breast ca, BRCA 2+. Just had complete hysterectomy for prevention. Breast CA er/PR +. Had cyst on ovary and of course now worried about Ovarian CA. With BRCA 2 what is typical age of onset of Ovarian CA and does it most likely appear relative to breast cancer diagnosis at certain time? Am 40 years old. Thanks | ||

| 7/10/2011 | Thanks for turning to the Johns Hopkins Breast Center with your question. As you stated you have had a 'complete' hysterectomy, & that would include your ovaries. If a cyst (which is common and is not cancer), was noted on ovary by pathologist after hysterectomy, and ovaries removed, then not a concern for ovarian cancer in the future. Your medical oncologist should have talked with you about other risk reduction measures against breast cancer including hormonal therapy. Hope this helpa and best wishes. | ||
