| 7/30/2011 | i am a 52 year old premenopausal woman dx with stage IIa breast cancer. ER/PR positive her2neg nodes clear, bilateral mastectomy with recontruction done three weeks ago with a total hysterectomy for fibroid bleeding. They got all the cancer with clear margins. I had two spots in my right breast. They oncotype tested the larger spot and it came back a 13. It was IDC with clear margin. They are now doing oncotype on the second spot which is DCIS and smaller. This is to determine my treatment and decide if chemo will benefit me. If my score is low do you think i should not do chemo. I had my ovaries out too so they are saying tamoxifen for 5 years. | ||

| 7/31/2011 | I beleive I answered this question when you wrote under the heading of 'Chemotherapy'. I know it can be a confusing subject. Talk with your oncologist in more detail once your oncotype result come back. Or could seek a second opinion regarding chemo. Also read through the many questions and answers under 'Chemotherapy' where I'm sure you will find some information. Hope this helps. | ||

Ask an Expert is a free service operated by health care professionals at the Johns Hopkins Avon Foundation Breast Center.
