9/5/2011I have had tissue expanders in place since July 2010 after a double mastectomy. I finished chemo in Jan and radiation in March. My PS says it is best to wait at least nine to twelve months after radiation to do the implant surgery. What are your thoughts?

9/5/2011the breast skin will go through more changes for about 8-9 months post completion of radiation. Waiting this long however doesn't guarantee that your body won't still "react" to the implant later on. it is a known problem for radiated tissue and implants to not get along well. great to hear your treatment is completed. be well..
