| 10/12/2011 | I am 47 yrs, post menopausal (no hormones or RX). History of FCC, sister deceased 2010 of breast cancer. I had a cyst aspiration done yesterday. Surgeon referred to as "tough rhine and not typical round in shape. Finally able to drain fluid, collapsing large cyst. Fluid was dingy color with bloody appearance. Fluid being sent to pathology. I am assuming this may fall under complex cysts. I forgot to mention brownish nipple discharge from both breast and that my breast have grown 1 full size in 3-4 months. Is this important enough that I should let them know now or can it wait until they call with results? We will be scheduling f/u scans and exams. | ||

| 10/12/2011 | Sounds like a lot is going on with your breast(s). Please consult with a breast surgical oncologist who can evaluate your breast imaging, take a full history and perform a clinical breast exam. Breasts that grow in size with out reason (pregnancy, lactation) should be evaluated, as should any nipple discharge. Yes call the doc who performed your biopsy, although it won't affect the results of the biopsy. You should be evaluated further. | ||
Please note: This service is not intended to provide primary medical advice concerning specific medical care or treatment. Ask an Expert is a free service operated by health care professionals at the Johns Hopkins Avon Foundation Breast Center. Due to the volume of questions and their complexity, there are times when medical oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists or oncology nurses are consulted for their input. These individuals volunteer their time for this service and will respond as soon as they are able. Please do not post or send the same question to us in multiple locations or categories.
