1/24/2012Hi--an update-thank you so much for answering my previous question last month related to dx of Paget's and type of surgery to have--your advice was so helpful! I had mentioned the PS here in NJ doing a muscle-sparing free TRAM immediately following left mastectomy--you encouraged me not to sacrifice any muscle if possible. I mentioned it very diplomatically to him(I really respect his training at MD Anderson) & I just loveee my NJ plastic surgeon--he listened and said when he took a look in the OR, he was able to do SIEA flap! By the way, because he was concerned--just in case, he buried half of my tissue in my belly temporarily so he would have enough to do a DIEP if needed. So far, so good--he plans to remove the extra tissue next week--about 11 days post-op. I am truly blessed when I realize how many options are available in the USA, and what caring teams of professionals, who are so passionate about breast cancer, are available in so many venues! Thank you again.
