| 3/2/2012 | How does one get information about the quality of reconstructions done at JH? The website has patient satisfaction reports on mastectomy but not reconstruction. Does someone really have to travel to Baltimore, stay overnight, and pay for 2 doctor's appointments to find out whether the JH schedule is even feasible? | ||

| 3/2/2012 | Thank you for turning to the Johns Hopkins Breast Center. Not sure what you mean by "JH scheule feasible'. Our breast plastic reconstructive surgeans (BPRS) are highly trained, skilled and extremely competent. Each performs complex and intricate breast reconstructions regularly. In order to determine the most appropriate breast reconstruction, our BPRS would need to meet, interview, examine, and consult with each patient. Depending on surgical options available, recommendations are made, decisions and plans for surgey follow. So yes it is necessary to meet with the surgeon(s) in person, due to the personalized nature of the surgery. We are able to offer the services of our Guest/Housing Services Center, to help with information on convenient overnight stays in the area if needed. Please call Sheila @ 443-287-BRST (2778) if you would like to make an appointment. Hope this helps, and best wishes. | ||
Please note: This service is not intended to provide primary medical advice concerning specific medical care or treatment. Ask an Expert is a free service operated by health care professionals at the Johns Hopkins Avon Foundation Breast Center. Due to the volume of questions and their complexity, there are times when medical oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists or oncology nurses are consulted for their input. These individuals volunteer their time for this service and will respond as soon as they are able. Please do not post or send the same question to us in multiple locations or categories.
