| 3/28/2012 | I had a 6mm idc. Lumpectomy. No node involvement. Clear margins. 5 day Mammosite radiation. 2 1/2 years on Tamoxifen & 1 year on Femara. Oncotype Dx score of 9. Having a lot of painful joint/muscles on Femara. I am on a vacation now with Oncologists approval and feeling so much better. Would it be okay to just not take anything anymore? | ||

| 3/28/2012 | this really requires a thoughtful discussion with your medical oncologist. as you know the standard of care is to be on these meds at least 5 years. The oncotypeDX score was based on the assumption that you would be taking hormonal therapy for 5 years too. your oncologist can compare risk/benefit for you comparing quality of life with risk of recurrence. call and ask him. | ||
Please note: This service is not intended to provide primary medical advice concerning specific medical care or treatment. Ask an Expert is a free service operated by health care professionals at the Johns Hopkins Avon Foundation Breast Center. Due to the volume of questions and their complexity, there are times when medical oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists or oncology nurses are consulted for their input. These individuals volunteer their time for this service and will respond as soon as they are able. Please do not post or send the same question to us in multiple locations or categories.
