Questions about Radiation Therapy.

|4/11/2012||I am 58 years old, diagnosed with DCIS stage 0,histolic grade intermediate, Primarily solid pattern with necrosis and calcification. Nuclear grade 2 size 10-15mm. Margins: (anterior 4mm)(Posterior 8mm) (Medial 4mm) (the other 3 greaster than 10mm" all edges were clear.Separte minute focus of DCIS low grade 4mm from medial margin..Estrogen & progesterone receptor result 100% on both. Will begin Hormone Blocker tomorrow..Complete hystectomy 9 years ago. Next phase possible radiation therapy, curious if it is really necessary with the clear margins and such...Please advise.|

|4/11/2012||though very wide margins which is good news, you are young. if you were in your 70s or older then consideration would be to forego the radiation, but given your age, it will be no doubt recommended.|
