| 4/13/2012 | Thank you for turning to the Johns Hopkins Breast Center. DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ) is non invasive breast cancer. The cancer cells are found only in the duct. Once breast cancer cells are found within the breast tissue, it is considered invasive, or infiltrating. With the Her/neu positive, you will receive trastuzamab (herceptin) which is given in conjunction with other adjuvant chemotherapy. Even with weak ER/PR, either Tamoxifen or an aromatase inhibitor would be beneficial as well. Seek a formal consultation with a breast medical oncologist to have your case evaluated and recommendations for treatment made based on your individual case. Hope this helps and best wishes! If we can help, call Sheila @ 443-287-BRST (2887). | ||

Ask an Expert is a free service operated by health care professionals at the Johns Hopkins Avon Foundation Breast Center.
