|4/26/2012||For early, low grade breast cancer (for premenopause women) tamoxifen is the standard guideline? In which cases do oncologists propose ovarian suppression?|

|4/26/2012||Just as there is not one breast cancer, or one patient, this answer would depend on each individual patient and their unique, personal case. Please consult with a breast medical oncologogist who can evaluate you and your individual case. Some women are definately considered more high risk. There are several research studies underway looking at the benefit of ovarian supression with tamoxifen vs an aromatase inhibitot. Again, talk with a breast medical oncologist at a major academic medical center to get recommendation what might be best for you. hope this helps and best!|
Please note: This service is not intended to provide primary medical advice concerning specific medical care or treatment. Ask an Expert is a free service operated by health care professionals at the Johns Hopkins Avon Foundation Breast Center. Due to the volume of questions and their complexity, there are times when medical oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists or oncology nurses are consulted for their input. These individuals volunteer their time for this service and will respond as soon as they are able. Please do not post or send the same question to us in multiple locations or categories.
