5/14/2012I had MRI, Ultrasound and mammogram. Nothing alarming on Ultrasound and mammogram. A finding on MRI says that there is a 0.3cm x 0.8cm linear clumped enhancement (Type 1 curve). Classified BIRAD 3. Recommendation is likely to be benign but DCIS may some time present this way. See breast surgeon and she said nothing alarming and wait for 6 months. I'd rather do a biopsy to confirm. please advise

5/14/2012See about getting a second opinion reading of your mammogram from another breast imaging radiologist to determine if he/she agrees with a birad 3 (okay to wait 6 months as it appears to be benign) vs looking more concerning that would warrant a biopsy.

Please note: This service is not intended to provide primary medical advice concerning specific medical care or treatment. Ask an Expert is a free service operated by health care professionals at the Johns Hopkins Avon Foundation Breast Center. Due to the volume of questions and their complexity, there are times when medical oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists or oncology nurses are consulted for their input. These individuals volunteer their time for this service and will respond as soon as they are able. Please do not post or send the same question to us in multiple locations or categories.
