| 7/9/2012 | I am getting ready for a breast biopsy and possible cancer surgery. The medical history forms for the surgeon and the oncologist ask whether there have been any miscarriages or abortions. Do they need to know this? I have only given this information to my gynecologist. Thank you! | ||

| 7/9/2012 | this type of information isn't actually needed for your procedures but instead is likely desired so they have a complete medical record of your history. For example, women who have not had a baby prior to the age of 30 have increased risk of getting breast cancer. You can decline to complete that line item though. no one can force you to fill in every data field and as mentioned it doesn't impact these procedures. | ||
Please note: This service is not intended to provide primary medical advice concerning specific medical care or treatment. Ask an Expert is a free service operated by health care professionals at the Johns Hopkins Avon Foundation Breast Center. Due to the volume of questions and their complexity, there are times when medical oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists or oncology nurses are consulted for their input. These individuals volunteer their time for this service and will respond as soon as they are able. Please do not post or send the same question to us in multiple locations or categories.
